Billing & Insurance
Counseling services may be covered in full or in part by your insurance policy. It is your responsibility to contact your insurance provider directly (usually by calling the number on the back of your insurance card) to determine your coverage. It’s generally a good idea to ask:
-
Do I have mental health coverage?
-
Do I need a prior authorization for services?
-
What is my deductible and has it been met?
-
How many sessions per year does my policy cover?
-
What will my copay be?

PLEASE NOTE: Everyone using insurance to pay for mental health counseling must be given a diagnosis, as insurance-covered treatment must be deemed “medically necessary.” If you are concerned about a diagnosis remaining on your permanent medical record you may choose to pay for services directly (OOP).
